In this tutorial, you will learn how to install shutter on Linux Mint.

shutter is a screenshot tool that allows you to take screenshot of your Desktop on Linux Mint.

Shutter has many features such as :

built-in editor - This feature allows you to edit and modify your screenshots directly on shutter.

pdf export - This feature allows you to export your screenshots in a PDF file.

upload images - Allows you to upload your screenshots to Dropbox, imgur. Gyazo etc.

custom screenshot - You can screenshot a custom region, window only or the whole desktop.

Shutter allows you also to upload your screenshot to your FTP server, or any other image hosting site that shutter supports. This feature is very useful when you don't need to save screenshots locally on your machine.

shutter can be installed on Linux Mint by using the official ppa of shutter, all you have to do is add the shutter ppa on your system, and then use the ppa to install shutter.

In this tutorial, we'll be installing shutter on Linux Mint via apt package manager by using shutter official ppa.

Install shutter on Linux Mint

Step 1 - Add shutter PPA

Now that your Linux Mint machine is up to date, proceed to add shutter ppa on your system.

To add shutter PPA, you can do so by using the add-apt-repository tool.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:shutter/ppa

Step 2 - Update your Linux Mint machine

Once you have added shutter PPA on your machine, proceed to update the package index on your system in order to be able to use the new PPA that you added.

sudo apt-get update

Step 3 - Install shutter

Now that shutter ppa is added and active on your package index database, you can proceed to install shutter. To do so, simply run the command below.

sudo apt-get install shutter

Uninstall Shutter on Linux Mint

In this tutorial, we installed shutter by using its official PPA, so to uninstall shutter from your linux mint machine, you can do so by using apt package manager.

sudo apt remove shutter 

To remove also the PPA that you added, run the following.

sudo add-apt-repository -r ppa:shutter/ppa
