How to install OBS Studio in Arch Linux

OBS Studio is a cross platform software that you can run it in almost any operating system.

OBS studio is one of the most popular broadcasting software, that allows you to stream to many social networks from your Arch Linux machine.

In Arch Linux, OBS studio can be installed by using the terminal and the package manager pacman, as OBS studio package is available in the AUR repository of Arch Linux, which means you can install OBS studio directly from the terminal.

In this tutorial, you will learn how to install OBS Studio in Arch Linux, and Arch Linux based distros.

Install OBS Studio in Arch Linux

Step 1 - Update your system

Before we install OBS studio, we need to update pacman database, to ensure that we can use it, as we'll be using the Aur repository to download the OBS package.

To update pacman, is quite simple, and you can do so by running the command below.

sudo pacman -Syu

Step 2 - Install OBS

Pacman database should be now updated, and you can proceed to install OBS studio on your system.

To install OBS, simply run the command below.

sudo pacman -S obs-studio

Next, press Y to confirm and proceed installing OBS.

Once you see a similar output in your terminal, it means that the installation process was finished.

Step 3 - Use OBS Studio

OBS Studio should be installed now in your Arch Linux system, and you should be able to launch it.

To launch OBS you can either use terminal, by running the command below.


Or simply use GUI, and launch OBS studio from the applications menu in your system.

Depending the desktop environment that you are using in your Arch Linux machine, you can easily find OBS studio in the apps menu.

For example, we are using Gnome in Arch Linux, and to launch OBS from the applications menu, you can do so by clicking Activities > Search: OBS Studio > Click OBS

Uninstall OBS Studio in Arch Linux

You can use pacman to also uninstall OBS studio in Arch Linux.

To do so, simply run the following command.

sudo pacman -R obs-studio

And confirm that you want to uninstall OBS Studio, by pressing Y and then enter.

Once you confirm, OBS studio will be removed from your system.
