Boot into Linux Mint 21
Go to boot menu on your computer, and choose the device where you installed the ISO file. Next you will see the screen below, choose "Start Linux Mint 21.1 Cinnamon 64-bit" and press enter to boot Linux Mint
Once the system boots up, you need to launch the Linux Mint Installer to start the installation of Linux Mint on your computer.
Choose your preferred language
Choose keyboard layout. If you are unsure about the keyboard type you have and the language that your keyboard is, press the "Detect Keyboard Layout" button and test your keyboard by typing on the box below
On this step, you can choose if you want to install multimedia codecs when installing linux mint. If you don't check this option, you will need to install codecs later manually if you want to play videos on your system.
Next, you will see the following window. In this window, you need to choose whether you want to erase the whole hdd and Install Linux mint on it, or setup partitions manually.
Go with "Erase disk and Install Linux mint" if you want to install linux mint on the whole hdd, this option doesn't allow you to create partitions, so you will have only one hdd for the system and files.
Go with "Something else" to create partitions manually, this option allows you to install linux mint on a different partition from your files. This is useful if in cases where you have two or more partitions for different things.
We went with "Erase.." option, continue writing changes by pressing the Continue button
After writing changes to the disk, you need to set your timezone. Select the timezone by clicking directly on the map or setting it manually via the drop down box.
Now you need to setup your account. Fill out the details and press the Continue button once done
Once you fill your account details, the installation will start as show in the image below. Get yourself a cup of coffee because this may take awhile
Once the installation has been successfully completed, you will see this pop up window, click the "Restart Now"
Then you will see the message below, unplug the usb device from your computer and press enter
And Linux Mint will boot up.
