How to Install Kubuntu 23.04

In this tutorial, you will learn how to install kubuntu.

Kubuntu is basically Ubuntu, but instead of Gnome desktop environment, Kubuntu uses KDE Plasma as desktop environment. Even though both systems are the same, the desktop environments are different and each has its own pros and cons.  

If you like Ubuntu, and don't want to change then you don't have to, as you can simply install the KDE Plasma on your current system and use both desktop environment as you wish.

Boot into Kubuntu

Plug in the usb flash drive with Kubuntu on it, and choose "Try or Install Kubuntu"

This option allows you to test Kubuntu before installing it. 

Install Kubuntu

Click the Install Kubuntu button to start the installation

Choose Keyboard layout and click the Continue button

Choose if you want to install additional softwares.

Normal Installation - Choose this option if you want to do a normal Installation. This option is recommended when you are installing Kubuntu on your computer, as you won't need to install additional packages after installing the OS.

Minimal Installation - This type of installation installs only a basic install of Kubuntu. Stuff like codecs and other internet apps won't be installed with this type of installation.

Choose the type of the Installation

Guided use entire disk - Select this option to use the whole hard disk to install Kubuntu

Guided use entire disk and set up LVM - Select this option if you want to install Kubuntu with LVM

Guided  use entire disk and set up encrypted LVM -  Select this option if you want to encprypt the hard disk where you will be installing Kubuntu

Click the Install Now button once you select your choice

Alternatively, you can choose the Manual option and create partitions manually.

Once you click Install Now button, you will see the following pop up. Click Conitnue button to confirm you want to write changes and start the installation process

Set your timezone.

Next, you need to create your account. Fill out the details on the boxes, then click the Continue button

On this step you can also choose, whether you want to use a password to login to your computer.  

Now, the installation process has begun. This step won't take too long, but this totally depends on your machine specs.

Once the installation has been completed, you should see the following prompt. This means you can restart the system now and start using Kubuntu

Click the Restart button to boot to the new installed system Kubuntu

After clicking the Restart button, you need to remove the installation media, in this case a usb flash drive or any device that you used to install Kubuntu. SImply unplug this device, and press enter

And Kubuntu should be booted
