Discord it's not found on Ubuntu repositories. However, Discord supports Ubuntu, which means we can download the deb file manually and install it on our system.

It's worth mentioning that Discord is also available on snap store, so we can also install it by using snap.

In this tutorial, you will learn how to install Discord on Ubuntu 23.04, via the two methods we mentioned.

Install Discord via Deb

Launch terminal, and run the command below to download Discord


Note: Discord will be downloaded on /home/user, if you want to download discord on another directory, on Downloads for example, then you can run the command above once you are in the Downloads directory.

wget -P Downloads

After downloading discord, you can proceed to install it. To install discord, run the command below on the same terminal window

sudo apt install ./discord-0.0.28.deb

Install discord with Snap

Discord is listed on the snap store, so you can download and install it on your system using snap.

To Install discord with snap, run

sudo snap install discord

Launch Discord

Depending the method you chose to install Discord, you can launch discord by running the command below.


Uninstall discord on Ubuntu 23.04

To uninstall Discord on your Ubuntu 23.04 machine, is very simple.

The command that you need to use depends on the method you chose to install Discord on your system.

For example, if you installed Discord via apt package manager, then to uninstall Discord you can do so by running the command below.

sudo apt remove discord

If you installed Discord via snap on your Ubuntu 23.04 machine, in this case you need to uninstall Discord by using snap.

sudo snap remove discord
