How to install CentOS Stream 9

In this tutorial, you will learn how to install CentOS stream 9 on your machine. Assuming you have an usb drive with centos stream 9 on it, and you don't know how to install it, simply follow the steps below, we'll explain everything in details so you can install CentOS without hassle.

Boot into CentOS 9

Plug in the usb drive with CentOS 9 on it, reboot your computer, then enter the boot menu and choose the usb drive that you plugged in.

Once you boot centos 9 iso on your computer, and select the first option " Install CentOS Stream 9"

Select the language you want to use on your system. Once you choose the language, proceed to the next step by clicking the Continue button, as shown in the image below.

Next, you will see the installation summary window. In this window you need to setup localization, software and system.  To do this, you need to click on each option and then click the done button once done.

Select keyboard layout

Click the option as shown in the image below and select the keyboard layout. Then you need to click the Done button once done.

Select language

Set time and date

Leave this as is. Installation source shows the source of the installation that you are using to install CentOS 9 stream.

Software selection is the option that lets you choose what type of softwares you want to install during the installation of the system.

Installation destination lets you choose if you want to create partitions manually, or leave centos do an automatic partitioning. For example, we are using the automatic partitioning as example.

Enable or Disable KDUMP.

KDUMP is tool that collects data when kernel crashes on your system, this tool makes it easy to identify the cause of the crash. Some of the ram is going to be used by KDUMP, and it will be reserved automatically by KDUMP. Alternatively, you can set this amount of ram manually, you can also disable KDUMP.

Select the network device that you want use during installation.

Security profile

Select if you want to use security profile or not. Security profile is enabled by default, so you can leave this option as is.  

Root password

Now you need to setup the root password, click on "Root Pasword" and set your own password.

Once you have completed all steps above, now you can go ahead and Install CentOS stream 9 on your computer. To do this, simply click the "Begin Installation" . And the installation should start, as show in the following image.

After the installation is done, click the "Reboot System" button to start using CentOS stream 9

Next, you  need to setup CentOS. Click the "Start Setup" button to start setting up your installation

Enable or disable location.

Select the account you want to connect to CentOS. This is an optional feature, so you can skip if you don't want to connect any account.

Enter name and username you want to use, then click next

Choose a password and click next

And, that's it! Click the "Start using CentOS Stream" and enjoy your new OS.
