How to install Android ISO

In this tutorial you will learn how to install Android x86 ISO on Virtualbox. We are going to download Android ISO and install it on Virtualbox 7.0.  If you want to learn how to install Android ISO on Virtualbox or on your computer follow the steps in this tutorial.

Download Android ISO

Below is the official website of android, browse to the link below and click the Download button

Download | Android-x86

Choose Version

Once you click the download button, you will see different versions which to download. We will be installing the 64bit version. However, you can choose any version you want.

android-x86_64-9.0-r2.iso - Is the 64bit version

android-x86-9.0-r2.iso - Is the 32bit version

Install Android x86 64bit ISO

Once you boot to Android ISO you will see this window, in this window you need to choose the boot type you want to use. For example, there are 3 different options

Live cd - Allows you to use Android as live cd, you can boot to this option if you are not ready to install it and want to test it first.

Live cd debug mode - If you want to start in debug mode

Installation - Install Android OS on your hard drive

Choose "Installation" and press enter

Next, we need to create the partition where we will install the system, to do this you need to go into "Create/Modify partitions" option. Simply press C and then press enter

Confirm with Yes on "Do you want to use GPT"

Next, we need to create the partition. Select "New" and press enter

On this step you will be asked to enter the first sector, size in sectors , guid,  press enter for all of them and then set a name for the hdd.

Next, you need to write the changes on the hdd. Select "Write" and press enter, then type yes to confirm.

Select "Quit" and press enter.

Choose the partition that you created, and press enter.

Select the filesystem to reformat the partition. Android supports all the filesystems listed in the iamge below.  Choose ext4 if you are using Linux and ntfs if you are using windows.

Confirm with Yes on "Do you want to format the partition sda1"

Select Yes to install the bootloader

Next, you will see this prompt

Select Yes and press enter.

Continue by pressing Yes on "Do you want to install /system directory as read-write"

And the installation will start

Once the installation has been completed, choose "run Android-x86" and press enter to start Android OS

And you should see the following window, this means the Android OS has been successfully installed and started.  Press start button to configure your system.

Next, you need to setup the internet connection. Since we are using Virtualbox, you will see VirtWifi listed as wifi device on the wifi window. Select virtwifi to connect to internet

Next, you will be asked if you want to copy apps and data. You can skip this step if you want.

Next you can connect your google account to Android, enter the email address and press Next

Set date and time

If you connected the gmail address you will be asked to choose which services you want to use and which not.

Choose the protection method you want to use. You can choose a a pin, password or pattern. You can also choose to not set any type of protection.

Next, you will be asked to choose the home app.

And you should be able to use Android now
